I have been telling John for a couple of months now how I wanted to go check out the Stuttgart City Library because it had made a couple of lists on being one of the world’s coolest libraries. There was really no excuse not to check it out – it’s a mere 9-minute U-bahn ride from our house, and I’ve been to the brand new mall right next to it on multiple occasions without going into the library. But, today, I sidetracked and saw first hand why it’s made the list of impressive libraries (see here and here and here).

The number of different languages here, English included, is amazing!

Of course this library doesn’t do just vending machines…there is a proper cafe…with a salad bar!
The library also offers an outside walkway on each level for great views of the city, as well as a rooftop terrace.
